Begonias are tender perennials, grown for their colorful flowers and foliage. This beauty is a large grower and flowers frequently. The leaves are olive green with small silver spots on the top and red on the bottom. The name Begonia honors Michel Begon, a former governor and amateur botanist.
Begoniaceae is a large flowering plant family with about 1500 different species and hundreds of hybrids. Mature begonia plants range in size from a few inches high to over 12 feet high and the flowers.
Soil - should be well-drained and rich.
