While it is not a palm tree, this evergreen tree is growing at a slow rate. A plant may only produce one leaf per year. Plenty of patience is required but well worth it for this jungle like plant which will bring a zest of the tropics to your home. Native to Ryukyu island in Japan, it has a very attractive rosette of shiny, arching pinnate leaves atop a rugged upright trunk. Each leaf is divided into many narrow, leathery, spinny-tipped, deep green leaflet adorned with revolute edges.
- It appreciates a warm and bright environment, though harsh sunlight can damage the foliage.
- It also likes humidity, which can be raised for indoor plants by misting them regularly with clean water from a spray bottle.
- Do not over-water, make sure the soil surface dries out in between waterings. And choose a pot with ample drainage holes for container plantings.
- Toxic to pets.
Height of the plant - 35 cm. Diameter of the pot - 12 cm. Sustee size M.
